| There
is no such thing as a good or a bad colour - only a good or bad
combination of colours. When choosing colours, there are six points to
keep in mind. 1. The aspect of the room and its source of natural light. Northerly aspect - hot in summer Southerly aspect - cold in winter Easterly aspect - warm and sunny in the morning, cool in the afternoon Westerly aspect - cool in the morning, hot in the afternoon, usually wet and cold in the winter 2. The purpose of the room and its desired atmosphere 3. The proportions of the room and its architectural features 4. Existing furnishings and their colours 5. The type of artificial light and its effect on your colours 6. The personal preferences of the person concerned Colour is a vital factor in practically every element which goes into the making of a livable interior. Always remember ... You can only suggest certain colours, textures and patterns. Each individual has his or her own taste. |
